Olivia Gregorian-Wilson and Oliver Wilson were married at the legendary Wentworth Golf Club on 6th July 2024, surrounded by the lush manicured greens and rolling fairways of the golf course. Their day was relaxed yet elegant, with a soft, romantic colour palette and a big focus on music and dancing.
The Journey
From a young age I was obsessed with the TV show “Say Yes to The Dress” so you can imagine my excitement when it was finally my turn to start looking for my own. Even before I was engaged I was following loads of bridal designers on Instagram and saving dresses I liked on Pinterest, so I already had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. My favourite designer was Jesus Peiro, so when it came to looking for bridal boutiques, I straight away looked for places that stocked their dresses. In the end, I visited two boutiques in total and probably tried on around 15 dresses, I tried my dress on at both boutiques and fell head over heels in love with it.
The Vision
I had a pretty good idea of the kind of dress I wanted before I started looking. I was set on wearing a Jesus Peiro dress, I loved the modern designs and necklines so that was my starting point when researching boutiques. I had seen a specific dress on Instagram which I loved, and that ended up being the dress I chose.
The Decision
For me, it was quite an easy process. I knew what I wanted and what I didn’t want but I made sure to try on as many styles, materials and shapes as I could before settling on the dress. I did end up going with a dress that matched exactly what I had envisioned but the decision was made so much easier by trying all the other styles first.
The Style Support
My mum’s opinion is the most important for me, so she was with me for all my appointments and luckily we were on the same page for the whole process. My sisters came to the first appointment and saw me try on the dress I ended up choosing, they loved it so that helped me make my decision too.
The Evening Look
Originally, I had planned to be in my dress all day but I had a beautiful puff sleeve short dress by Self Portrait which I had worn when we were legally married a few days before and I brought that with me just in case. A couple of hours before the end of the wedding, I decided to change into that (and my Crocs) to dance in.
The Accessories
As my wedding dress didn’t have any details like lace/pearls/sparkles etc I decided I needed some detail on the veil. The first couple of veils I tried on had a sparkle detail through them, but I then tried on a veil with pearls scattered through it, it just worked so well with the dress and I had to have it! The decision of the pearl veil then helped me decide on the rest of my accessories. I wanted to stick to the pearl theme, so went on the hunt for earrings to match. One of my bridesmaids introduced me to Megan Therese Couture and sent me a link to the most beautiful pair of earrings with hand crafted clay flowers and pearls. On my hen do, my bridal party surprised me with the earrings as a gift, it was so thoughtful and special and on the morning of the wedding they surprised me with the matching hair piece. I had always imagined myself with blue shoes on my wedding day, and my first choice originally were the Loeffler Randall Camellia sandals which I had seen on other brides before. In the process of looking at those, I found their Isabel sandals, which were just the most beautiful shoes I had ever seen. They had a platform which made them so comfortable and were the perfect shade of blue.
The Second Day Outfit
For day two, I wanted something comfortable and lightweight but still bridal. Six weeks before our wedding, my best friend got married in Italy and we went for dinner a few days before the big day. She wore a white Farm Rio dress with an oversized flower detail on the bodice and a floaty 3 tiered skirt. I loved it so much that she kindly lent it to me to wear for my day 2. It was perfect!
Advice For Brides
Personally for me, doing a bit of research on designers, necklines, shapes etc was so helpful before going into the appointments. It just means you have a little bit of an idea to give the consultants in the boutiques so they have a starting point when pulling dresses. I would also say to try on as many styles as you can so you can rule out what you don’t like.
Favourite Photo
There are so many wonderful photos but this photo of me outside the clubhouse has to be my favourite. I felt so regal and elegant and this photo just highlights how the dress made me feel and captures the dress perfectly. I love that it gives you a glimpse into all its beautiful details, it captures the fullness of the skirt and length of the train, a peek at the open back and the unique collar, even the pockets!
