In the heart of Surrey’s green and golden folds lies Beaverbrook, a country house hotel that feels more like a secret garden than a weekend retreat. On Good Friday, its iconic Orangery, with soaring glass ceilings and panoramic views of the surrounding gardens, played host to one of the most stylish family gatherings of the season, curated by The Mini Edition.
From the moment guests arrived, the entrance was alive with colour. A spectacular display of biodegradable balloons styled by Joydeco London framed the Orangery’s doors, with organic candy-coloured balloons tumbling skyward and looping delicately onto the backs of chairs inside. It was a first impression that set the tone as playful, polished and quietly extraordinary, perfectly complementing the day’s festivities.
Inside, the scene was a Peter Rabbit storybook brought to life. Towering floral installations from Twilight Trees gave a sense of enchantment and scale. The Grande Tig, standing at 3.5 metres, anchored the room, while the more delicate Tig Pom trees added a dreamlike canopy over the children’s table, echoing the lush gardens beyond the glass.
Complementing the grandeur of the Twilight Trees installations were the exquisite floral designs by Fi Passey of Corky and Prince, whose work brought a distinct vibrancy and modern flourish to the day. Known for her contemporary abundance and mass modern edge, Fi created a visual celebration of flowers that felt both painterly and fresh. Her table centrepieces featured buttery ranunculus in soft blush tones, papery sweet peas, vivid blue delphiniums, and punchy orange-centred narcissi – a joyful medley that danced with colour and form. Each arrangement, set in soft-hued vessels, mirrored the palette of the season and added depth and delicacy to the overall styling.
The table was a joyful riot of pastels and seasonal touches. Meri Meri’s Easter collection took centre stage – think bunny ear napkin rings, scalloped edge plates and painterly illustrations in lilac, baby blue and lemon yellow. Fresh strawberries and miniature carrots spilled between place settings, adding texture and whimsy. Under the creative direction of Cleo Alexiou, the overall aesthetic struck a careful balance between refined and lighthearted, making the setting feel both elevated and wonderfully inviting.
While parents sipped champagne and freshly pressed juices, the children were drawn into a world of Easter enchantment led by the endlessly energetic Sharky and George team. Known for their imaginative, high energy approach, their entertainers guided little ones through a series of charming craft stations – bunny headband making, Easter basket decorating and spring themed games that kept every child beaming.
After a beautifully prepared lunch served under the soft light of the Orangery, excitement peaked with the main event – a traditional Easter egg hunt with a magical twist. Earlier that morning, the Sharky and George team had carefully hidden hand painted wooden eggs around the grounds. One by one, the children set off, baskets in hand, hunting with delight through the gardens. Their reward? A ton of chocolate eggs each to take home, a sweet end to a perfectly pitched afternoon.
Adding to the charm were the children’s colourful Easter outfits, many of which were from Childrensalon. From dreamy pastels to painterly florals, each look brought an extra splash of spring to the party – picture-perfect for twirling through egg hunts, craft corners and photo moments with Mum.
The event closed with a spirited tug of war between children and grown ups, a moment of collective joy that captured the spirit of the day. It was thoughtful, beautifully executed and full of heart – a true celebration of spring that proved once again that The Mini Edition knows exactly how to bring the magic.
