From their first date at the V&A to their heavenly wedding at Marylebone Town Hall, the couple’s story is one of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Discover all the details of Roya and Kyle’s dream London town hall wedding here.
The Story So Far..
Kyle and I met in June 2022, and our first date was at the V&A. Five months later, we moved in together. The saying, “when you know, you know,” had never felt truer. After just a few dates, I was certain we were destined for each other.
We got engaged in Paris 18 months later. But this wasn’t actually Kyle’s plan. We had travelled to Paris at the end of December last year because that was were Kyle had found my ring. However, we got stuck in the city for two extra nights due to a flood in the Eurostar tunnel. This unexpected twist meant Kyle had to rethink his original plan to propose on New Year’s Eve in London. Instead, he proposed to me in Place Vendôme, right outside The Ritz. He chose this location for its rich history in fashion and jewellery, as well as its connection to Coco Chanel, who famously lived in the hotel. My engagement ring is a 1940s gold and aquamarine cocktail ring. I had always dreamed of having a ring in this style, which was inspired by my Aunt Helen, who has the most amazing collection of 1940s Tank jewellery.
The Venue
We got married at Marylebone Town Hall, and there was no other choice for us. We live in Notting Hill, and although we loved the idea of Chelsea Town Hall’s blue door, after visiting, we felt the interior was a bit tired and the room’s not entirely our vibe.
In contrast, Marylebone felt grand with its wooden panelled walls and marble staircases. We also loved that many of our friends had married there. After the ceremony, we hosted an intimate reception at Mister Nice in Mayfair, followed by a party at Upstairs at Langan’s. We chose Langan’s because of its legendary connection to film stars and musicians in the ’70s, and because both Bianca Jagger and Elizabeth Taylor had partied there!
The Fashion
I wore a Vivienne Westwood Cocotte dress, the dress I had always imagined wearing (even though I tried on about 40 other dresses). When I tried it on at the boutique on Davies Street with the amazing Rosie Boydell-Wiles, it felt more perfect than I could have ever dreamed! My shoes were from YSL, which held a special memory as I had also worn them at my sister’s wedding in Puglia the year before. For my something blue, I had a tiny blue bow sewn into my dress. It was super discreet but I knew it was there!
Kyle’s tuxedo was from Anglo Italian, paired with velvet slippers from Crockett & Jones, a pocket square from Thom Sweeney, and socks from Pantherella.
Jewellery
I kept my jewellery simple on the day which isn’t my usual style. I wore a pair of Completed Works earrings that I purchased from The Fall Bride and my engagement ring. My wedding band is from Cartier, with Kyle’s initials engraved on the inside (and mine engraved in his). We both chose Cartier’s 1895 range because we loved the timelessness of the design, which has remained unchanged since the year it was created.
Transportation
We hired a 1974 Mercedes-Benz and organised a coach to transport of our guests from Marylebone Town Hall to Mister Nice. We provided MOTH drinks on board the coach and were super impressed that 35 people managed to drink 72 cans in under 20 minutes!!
The Tablescape
I sourced everything for the tablescape from eBay, Etsy, Vinted, Charity Shops and Portobello Road Market. I purchased the candles from my favourite hardware store on the Portobello. We burnt the same scented candles and incense in both venues as we burn at home so our guests felt like they were walking into our flat. For the wedding favours, we bought everyone a crystal and gave them to our guests during my speech.
Food & Drink
This was a priority for us—we wanted the food to be nothing short of exceptional, and Mister Nice truly delivered. We collaborated with the Head Chef to create a bespoke menu, blending French and Italian classics that Kyle and I love.
At Upstairs at Langan’s, the focus shifted to celebratory drinks. We served champagne alongside a curated selection of cocktails, each named after people and places that hold special meaning to us.
Entertainment
My Dad loves Elvis and Elvis and Prisilla’s wedding inspired our choice of wedding cake so Elvis Presley, Can’t Help Falling in Love felt very appropriate for the movement of walking down the aisle. We chose Life is But a Dream for our walk down the aisle as husband and wife. It’s the song played in the wedding scene of Goodfellas, one of the films that inspired the theme for our wedding (along with The Godfather). We made our entrance at Upstairs at Langan’s to Ain’t No Stopping Us Now.
Beauty Regime & Wellness
I took my beauty and wellness regime very seriously. I quit drinking and smoking three months before the wedding which really helped my skin and overall well being. Dr Karen Doherty and Lucia from The Aesthetics Lab played a huge part (IYKYK) alongside my ride or die beauty products from Natura Bisse. I also had a lot of hair treatments with the best being from Taylor & Taylor on the Portobello Road. I worked out around three to four times a week and attended classes at BXR, 1Rebel, and Bodyism.
Favourite Wedding Gifts
Our favourite gift was a vintage Waiter’s Friend from the Rothschild Wine Estate. Our amazing friend had zoomed in on a photo from the night we got engaged, spotting the bottle of champagne Kyle and I shared to celebrate. She then hunted down this incredible piece for us. It’s a truly thoughtful gift that we will treasure forever. We also received some beautiful personalised napkins and a carafe which we were extremely greatful for.
Honeymoon
For our minimoon, we flew to Edinburgh and stayed at The Gleneagles Townhouse. Initially, we had hoped to stay at the iconic Gleneagles Hotel for such a special occasion, but unfortunately, they had a corporate buyout during our dates. Instead, we opted for the city location, which turned out to be a fantastic choice (though we’re still hoping for another occasion to visit Gleneagles in the future as it looks amazing!).
We chose Edinburgh because we wanted somewhere festive, and we loved how seriously the city embraces Christmas! While there, we indulged in incredible meals at Roberta Hall’s restaurant, The Little Chartroom, and Tom Kitchin’s The Kitchin. We also enjoyed drinks at the famous Balmoral Hotel which was fab for people watching. During our days, we explored Dean Village and Stockbridge, and we walked along the scenic Water of Leith.
Our big honeymoon later this year will be in Japan.
Advice:
I was given the advice by another bride to obsess over the details, and it turned out to be true. The little details on the day are what make it truly special, so don’t overlook those personal touches. Don’t worry about the weather. Trust me, on the day, it doesn’t matter as you won’t care! Put just as much thought and effort into the evening portion of the wedding as you do into the ceremony and reception. Weddings often peak too early, leaving guests feeling tired or disengaged later in the night. We were conscious of this and made sure to look after our guests from start to finish, creating a steady tempo for the day.
