Aimée Kelly is an Actress and Alex Bibby a Photographer. The couple met over ten years ago at Leeds University. They were in the same halls and he was the floor above her. Their engagement was booked for their ten year anniversary at The Fish Hotel in the Cotswolds but was cancelled due to Covid so they were delayed by a couple of months, it was worth the wait though The Fish is incredibly romantic. They tied the knot in a chic London wedding.
The best part of our day was….
Our good friend Bobby Lockwood delivered the most lovely reading during our ceremony, our first dance would also be a contender and the speeches were both really memorable and a huge highlight of the day but we would both agree that there was a certain private moment between the two of us that would be the best part. In the days leading up to the wedding, the manager showed us around the room in which we were to meet directly after the ceremony and before being presented to the guests as man and wife. He warned us to enjoy and soak in this moment as it is usually the only time you get alone the entire day and he was so right. Our photographer had a glass of champagne for us waiting in there and I don’t even know what words were exchanged but it was a really special moment that will never happen again so we’re both glad we soaked up every second.
We choose to get married at..
Burgh House because of how intimate it was. The House itself has a max capacity of 70 wedding guests and it was exactly what we were looking for. In the run up to the wedding we had been walked around the courtyard but never experienced it so sunny like it was on our actual wedding day, we were truly blessed with the weather, it didn’t feel like we were in England at all! … Our reception took place at the Spiritland Diner, a fabulous 70’s / 80’s inspired space underneath the British Film Institute on London’s Southbank.
I knew I found ‘The One’ when….
I met Savannah Miller who made my bespoke dress at an event and we got chatting about my recent engagement and my upcoming wedding. I knew from the get-go that I would be in safe hands with Savannah and her team creating my bespoke dress, nothing I threw them was too crazy. My vision was a mix of ‘Meet me at the Chapel’ and ‘True Romance’ with Priscilla Presley vibes. It is multifaceted and each detail has its own story so we wanted to give each their moment. Savannah and her team totally took my vision on board and ran with it. There were no goal posts, we were all on the same page about the dress we were creating. Savannah and her team captured my vision perfectly creating my dream dress in the most sumptuous satin chiffon along with a beautiful cascading bow lace veil and a scattered tulle pearl capelet. Savannah and her team embroidered the date of our wedding into my dress as a ‘something blue’ which was such a lovely touch!
The most enjoyable moments of planning were…
I felt very much like I was playing Sims the wedding when planning. Everything was planned to an inch of its life as I was also filming at the same time. There comes a point when you can’t plan anymore and think the leaves have to fall where they may!
The hardest part of planning was…
Seating arrangements and car organisation. Fortunately our amazing bridesmaids and Groomsmen were there to take the weight off all of these semantics!
The best accounts to follow on Instagram for big-day inspo are…
Over the Moon, La lista and Vogue.
Wedding menu highlights..
Our catering was by Michelin Star Chef and restaurant Leafi. We wanted a much more casual feel so we opted to have bowl food and canapés flowing throughout rather than a traditional sit down lunch / dinner. Our bowl food highlights included a Welsh lamb & rosemary casserole with daupionise potato and a delicious vegan broad bean, pea, mint and lemon zest risotto inspired a dish we ate at one of my favourite restaurants, Plateau in Brighton so that was special!
Our wedding cake was pretty special too, designed by Aprils Baker and based on Pulp Fiction and 80’s vibes. It was incredible! We wanted our guests to enjoy the cake as dessert, it was so delicious.
For our honeymoon we chose..
The Amalfi Coast which unfortunately had to be postponed as I was back to filming the Monday after our wedding.
My top three tips for any couple would be…
Set a date with your partner before the wedding to aim to have everything done by so you can just kick back and focus on enjoying the wedding. Soak it all up because it goes SO QUICK. Heel wearers…I went for a platform – way more comfy!
If I was able to do it all over again, the one thing I would change is…
Absoloutely nothing, it was a perfect day from start ‘til finish!
