Camilla is a wedding & party planner who has recently started her own business, Events by Camilla. Camilla and Henry met briefly at a party in 2013 through one of Camilla’s school friends, and then again in 2016 at the same friend’s wedding. They got engaged in the Cotswolds in 2020 and hosted their wedding in Norfolk last September. It was a relaxed wedding, with a whimsical romantic feel.
The best part of our day was….
Walking down the aisle & seeing everyone’s happy faces was very magical. We felt so grateful being able to celebrate with all of our friends & family, without having any Covid restrictions. It was touch and go for a while! We loved every second of the day, it really was amazing.
We choose to get married at…
My family home in Norfolk. We got married in a beautiful church down the road and had a rustic marquee in the garden overlooking the surrounding fields. We wanted a really relaxed & informal wedding. Everything was very colourful, whimsical & wild to fit with the setting.
I knew I found ‘The One’ when…
I had always dreamed about wearing a dress from Hermione de Paula, I love her botanical style. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in my head, something with lots of detail, a low back & quite Boho. I tried on a few dresses from her signature garden collection which were all so beautiful, but the one I kept going back to had pink & green incorporated into the embroidery. I loved that it was something a bit different & felt amazing wearing it. It worked perfectly with the whimsical style of our wedding.
The most enjoyable moments of planning were…
The food & wine tasting. We did a blind champagne & wine tasting with both families which was a lot of fun. I also loved designing the tablescape, I really obsessed over the flowers & the block print napkins!
The hardest part of planning was…
Being a wedding planner myself without the big budgets & my regular & well trusted suppliers! We did a lot of research on local suppliers & handpicked the ones that worked for the style we wanted. They were all amazing & so accommodating, especially with my very detailed requests!
The best accounts to follow on Instagram for big-day inspo are…
This is a hard one, I follow so many for work! Here are a few @brides @zaraskitchenuk @tattieroseflowers
My top three tips for any couple would be…
- Having an on the day wedding planner to ensure everything runs smoothly and you can totally relax and enjoy every moment. This was non-negotiable for us with wedding planning being my job!
- Book all of your suppliers as soon as you have a confirmed date so you can work with your preferred ones. It’s really important that you work with suppliers who you get on with & who will go above & beyond to make your day special.
- Don’t stress about the weather, this is one thing that is totally out of your control! We were desperate for a warm summer’s day but it ended up being cloudy, we were just grateful for no rain. It would have still been the best day had it rained.
