From meeting at a drinks party to their quintessentially English countryside wedding in Devon, the couple’s story is one of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Discover all the details of Jasmine and Jame’s dream wedding English countryside wedding here.
The Story So Far..
We met nearly a decade ago at a drinks party, which led to a late-night out in London. By summer 2023, James proposed during the Wimbledon final at our favourite picnic spot—a secluded area at the Hurlingham Club. It was a complete surprise.
He proposed with a diamond and sapphire eternity ring, a meaningful gift from his father, Nick, to his mother, Clare, when James was born. This served as a placeholder while my dream engagement ring was being made.
James had been working with the incredibly talented jeweller Christopher Milton Stevens, to design the perfect ring. When he showed me the design, I was thrilled—it was everything I’d dreamed of and more: a breathtaking 2.5ct Diamond and Emerald Target ring.
The Venue
We both dreamed of an English countryside wedding (think Richard Curtis meets The Addams Family). It didn’t feel right doing it at home for either of us, a London wedding (although very chic) didn’t have the drama we were looking for. After attending many beautiful bohemian weddings, we both imagined something in the colder months, glamorous and with big energy.
I had a vision of a big gothic mansion, where guests dressed to the nines in fur, diamonds, feathers, tiaras, and stilettos, dancing under twinkling lights on a chilly, magical evening. Nothing compared to what we found at Huntsham Court: a Grade II* listed country house in Devon with 42 exquisite bedrooms and a vibe of hedonistic charm. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew immediately it was perfect. The house is beautifully finished, well-maintained, and “built for purpose.” Before this, we’d visited venues where owners worried about things like red wine on white carpets—not the case here. With chandeliers in every room, three reception rooms, two kitchens, a stylish bar, and an option for a late licence, this place had it all. There’s even a small, charming church on the grounds, making it perfect for a seamless day with easy access.
Huntsham Court is run like a tight ship, with an event planner assigned to you from the start. Our planner, Clare Fynn, made the process easy. She provided detailed layouts, coordinated staff, and had a checklist for things we hadn’t thought of. They have a book of trusted local vendors, with nearly every weekend hosting a wedding, we felt in good hands. The venue feels robust and relaxed, with a team that’s seen it all.
The Fashion
For my dress, I turned to Vivienne Westwood, a designer who I have had a lifelong obsession with. To me, nothing compared – the Vivienne Westwood dresses are built like no other, when you put them on they hold you in such a way; The silhouettes are feminine, yet strong, glamorous, but timeless, incredibly sexy but still classic. Rosie Boydell-Wiles, the stylist, was absolutely wonderful. The dress was purchased at the trunk show, making me the first person in the UK to wear it. My second dress was a more fun, spontaneous choice—a vintage creation using a bodice from my grandmother, Marian, combined with silk and lace I found in my mother, Sarah’s loft. My talented friend Georgie, Founder of Lily Rouse London helped me transform it into a beautiful second look. For accessories, I wore a stunning pearl choker with a sapphire in the center, lent to me by Clare, James’s mother. The necklace, designed by Christopher Milton Stevens (who also made our engagement ring), was the perfect “something borrowed” and “something blue.” I paired it with a delicate sapphire ring of my own mother’s, a piece I’ve cherished since childhood.
Transportion
The “getaway” car was an Austin Healey 3000 in British Racing Green, a beloved family heirloom that’s been in James’s family for years. His father, Nick, has now vowed never to sell it.
The Tablescape
We had the most incredible flowers by Juliet Glaves, all homegrown by her and her husband Neil in Shropshire. All of their flowers are seasonal, exquisite and instantly recognizable—just flip through almost any interior magazine, and her unparalleled floral designs are likely to catch your eye. I was thrilled when she said yes, knowing the wedding’s aesthetics were now going to be great.
Beauty Regime & Wellness
I had my skin care done by Theresa at Andresa Skin Clinic. Theresa expertly guided me through every treatment and supported me through the downtime, she was truly brilliant. Makeup by Maria Comparetto, who I’d met on a Tatler shoot. Maria did a wonderful job at my ‘natural’ make up and her calming approach helped me feel completely at ease on the day.
