Inside: A Super Stylish Spanish Wedding

Jessica Bradley married Rhys Zownir for a Super Stylish Spanish Wedding at the incredible Mallorca venue Cap Rocat.

Jessica said: Rhys and I met in July 2017 after he approached me in a pub in Fulham where I was living at the time. I was working in London whilst Rhys, a Captain in the Parachute regiment, was based in Yorkshire. Despite the distance, our relationship developed quickly and Rhys proposed Christmas Day 2018 in our first home we purchased together that October with my dream ring. From the moment we met (oh that drunk night in Embargoes nightclub), I knew something was different and I will always look back fondly at my weekends spent at the barracks where our love for one another blossomed. Rhys and I made things official at Chelsea Old Town Hall, September 1st 2019, followed by a wedding in Mallorca where we hosted three days of celebrations in stunning surroundings including a Black-Tie Wedding at a former military fortress, champagne celebrations on a catamaran, and finally a pool party in Palma. The best part of our day was….

Gosh this is a hard question as there are so many magical memories! Getting ready with my mother and sister, my father seeing me in my wedding dress for the first time…If I had to choose one part it would have to be walking down the aisle towards Rhys, with the Mediterranean sea as the backdrop, to our favourite piece of classical music played by a string quartet. Both of our eyes were filled with happy tears watching one another as we knew this would be a moment we would treasure forever.

We choose to get married at ….

Cap Rocat thanks to Rhys’s former military background. Set in a peaceful pocket of Palma Bay, the former military fort looks like something out of Game of Thrones. With its defensive paraphernalia (drawbridge, bunkers, trenches) and cliff top setting, the hotel provided the dramatic and romantic environment we were looking for our big day. It was the first and only venue we ever visited!

I knew I found ‘The One’ when …

I walked in to the Wedding Gallery and spotted my dress on the mannequin. It was the first dress I laid my eyes upon and the first dress I tried on…I have always been a decisive person. With its tulle skirt, blush tones, and intricate beading detail on the bodice, it was the perfect mix of traditional and glamour for our destination wedding. Thankfully we did not have to make many amendments – the thin straps and delicate design suited both my figure and the weather. However, this did not stop me from changing in to a second, slinkier dress from Halfpenny to dance the night away in after dinner. You only get married once after all!

The most enjoyable moments of planning were…

Travelling to the venue for the food and wine tasting. I had been told but quite a few people that I probably wouldn’t eat much on the day thanks to all the excitement so I went to the tasting with this in mind…and boy did we indulge ourselves. The food (and drink) was Spanish/Mediterranean in character using organic, locally sourced ingredients and a highlight for me was the Spanish Lobster with its Seafood Stew. Once we had chosen our options, we couldn’t wait to come back to experience it all over again with our loved ones.

The hardest part of planning a wedding was…

The politics that inevitably come with it. Rhys and I always knew that we wanted a smaller, more intimate wedding so brought in a strict ‘no ring, no bring’ policy in order to keep numbers down. This caused some upset of course but we didn’t want to share such a monumentous moment with relative strangers, let alone make small talk on one of the most special days of our lives. Whilst it may be a controversial way of tightening up the guest list, we have absolutely no regrets and would definitely recommend it to anyone planning a wedding.

My top three tips for any couple would be…

1. Don’t sweat the small stuff. I was upset at the time that it started raining after our ceremony and we had to move the dinner indoors. I was so conscious that we had bought all of our family and friends to Mallorca to enjoy a sunset wedding with a Mediterannean style dinner outdoors but in reality, they were none the wiser and had the best time regardless. No one will remember these details but you and in the grand scheme of things, they really don’t matter. All that matters is that you are surrounded by your loved ones celebrating the love between you and your partner.

2. Persevere with the photos because they will forever preserve your memories of the day.

3. Take a moment for yourselves after the ceremony. Guests will be grabbing your attention left, right and centre so its important to step away and celebrate (perhaps over a glass of champagne) the vows you have just made to one another. If I was able to do it all over again, the one thing I would change is to remember things will go wrong, it’s inevitable. What love story ever ran smoothly anyway.
