Inside: A Chic Countryside Suffolk Wedding

We take a look inside Mollie and Laura’s Countryside Chic Suffolk Wedding. Mollie and Laura first met through a mutual friend at a party in 2016. They quickly became friends and got together as a couple the following year. Mollie proposed in Norfolk in summer 2020 and they tied the knot in Suffolk in August last year. Mollie is Head of PE at London primary school and Laura is a Sales Director at a tech company.

The best part of our day was…

Seeing each other for the first time in our dresses (of course!) but the best bit has to be during the service in the moment after ‘the kiss’ the cheers from our friends and family were so loud and long it brought us both to tears!

We choose to get married at…

Laura’s parents house in Suffolk. Laura has lived there her whole life, and it feels like home for Mollie now too. We had a registry office official wedding a few days before, but having our blessing and reception in the garden felt so personal and very special.

I knew I found ‘The One’ when….

For Mollie it was when she discovered the dress she’d found at The Wedding Dress Shop could be made bespoke to look exactly how she wanted, with sleeves! She danced around the dress shop with her maid of honour.

The most enjoyable moments of planning were…

The tastings! Champagne, wine, food, cake. We also loved that we were able to use so many suppliers that were personally connected to us, mollie’s cousin has a wedding cake company, Laura’s made of honour Tallie runs a stationary business and they printed our invitations, order of service etc, and our beautiful flowers were done by Mollie’s very talented mother Jules and her fiend Caroline.

The hardest part of planning was…

Our hair-dresser, and good friend, had to cancel at the last minute for health reasons. Completely unavoidable/unforeseeable for him, but left us in a bit of a sticky situation with about five weeks to go. We took to Instagram and must have messaged 100s of people with no availability, in the end our lovely make up artist Sophy saved us by recommending a long list of people she has worked with before, from which we found Jade who
did an amazing job! (Getting the perfect table plan was a challenge too!)

My top three tips for any couple would be…

Sounds obvious, but book the big things early (venue, caterers, music, photographers etc)
they book up so fast!
Don’t overthink it. In the end you are the only ones who notice/remember every single detail so try to enjoy planning the smaller details rather than stressing/over-analysing.
On the day itself make sure you have reliable people to worry about the logistics so that you can just enjoy yourself. For us it was Laura’s brother Angus (the best man), and Nick from Crown Catering who made it so we didn’t have to think about a thing except enjoying our day! If I was able to do it all over again, the one thing I would change is… nothing! Actually we would have quadruple checked with the band to make sure they had got the message about being quiet between 4-4.30pm… so they didn’t start the sound check just as Laura was walking down the aisle!
