Although I didn’t personally get married in London, I’ve always wondered what my wedding would have been like if I’d opted for a city celebration instead of the Cotswolds do that we chose instead. London hotels are fabulous all-in-one options for a wedding, as they are often already armed with all of the bells and whistles required (florists, caterers, event planners), meaning that you can book your hotel venue without having to worry about hiring individual suppliers – and there’s guaranteed space for the wedding couple (and guests) to stay the night.
In my book London Hotels, recently published by Hoxton Mini Press, I’ve curated 40 of the best design-led hotels to sleep, eat, and spa across the capital – below, I’ve shared a selection of hotels in the book that are best for London weddings, all of which I would recommend if you’re planning your upcoming nuptials.
NoMad London
Occupying the former Bow Street Magistrates’ Court, NoMad London presides over Covent Garden piazza in all of its magnificence. Inside, draped curtains, chintz sofas and original artworks abound, providing plenty of New York-style glamour to wow guests as soon as they step inside – for wedding celebrations, the moody, muralled Magistrates’ Ballroom plays host to cocktail receptions or candlelit seated dinners; you’ll be guaranteed plenty of privacy thanks to its private bar and dedicated entrance. After celebrating, newlyweds can slip upstairs to one of the sumptuous Royal Opera Suites, which guarantee views over neighbouring Royal Opera House.

Town Hall Hotel
Historic Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green is perhaps east London’s favourite Edwardian relic. Within its storied walls, you’ll find a glittering, palatial pad that’s set the scene for a myriad of Oscar-winning films – and provides an equally-as-striking London wedding venue. Intimate ceremonies take place inside the original council chamber, followed by lavish dinners and champagne receptions in the hotel’s dedicated event spaces. Alternatively, book out the three-storied de Montfort Suite for an intimate celebration, which is sure to dazzle with its soaring arched ceilings and stained glass windows.

The Ned
With an entire floor of this majestic mainstay available for weddings, The Ned is a firm favourite in the heart of the City. Seated ceremonies take place across a handful of Art-Deco inspired rooms, followed by candlelit dinners in The Tapestry Room, where guests can feast on three-course dinners among crystal chandeliers and walnut panelling. Canapé and pre-dinner drinks can also be enjoyed on one of the hotel’s generous terraces that offer sweeping views over St. Paul’s Cathedral. Looking to go all out? The entirety of the sixth floor can be booked for a no-expenses-spared celebration that encompasses wedding ceremony, drinks reception, and dinner.

Bingham Riverhouse
Located on the banks of Richmond’s riverside, this grand Georgian manor provides oodles of history, having once played host to luminaries such as W.B Yeats and John Ruskin. Wedding ceremonies take place in the verdant garden overlooking a peaceful turn of the Thames, before segwaying into jolly barbecues or canapé receptions. Whole house takeovers are also allowed, meaning your guests can have the run of the generous drawing rooms inside the house for drinks and dancing: the pastel pink ceilings, velvet pouffes and walls lined with original Penguins make for an elegant and characterful venue.
